With finals footy in full swing, Fireball set out with a singular mission: To Make Bubblers Great Again. As Australia’s favourite shot, the whisky brand bravely decided to bring its signature heat to this year’s competition by turning the humble water bubbler into a whisky dispenser.
Now, of course, it’s not exactly the first iconic bubbler to hit the footy finals – I don’t think we need to say anymore – but it’s certainly the most delicious. Shooting the ice-cold cinnamon whisky that we all know and love, Fireball is giving Sydneysiders a new way to enjoy their favourite drink, and reclaiming the bubbler for the city’s many partygoers.
If NRL hero and Fireball fanatic Braith Anasta can get around it, then why shouldn’t you? Get down to Sydney’s Robin Hood Hotel where the Bubbler will be in action every Friday and Saturday from 7:30pm to 10:30pm throughout the footy finals and for a final time on the big day — Grand Final Sunday (October 6th, for those who like their booze but don’t know their ball).
Leave the lukewarm beers behind and embrace the bubbler; Anasta calls it “a game-changer that will bring the heat”, and he’s not wrong.
I had the good fortune of being invited down to the Robin Hood to celebrate the bubbler’s debut and, in the words of one anonymous source, Fireball’s party was “so lit it had to be extinguished”… quite literally. One gatecrasher, bubbling with jealousy at seemingly missing out on his ticket for a Fireball shot, tore a fire extinguisher from the wall and dowsed the pub with its contents. He wasn’t welcomed back.
For this writer, the thought of ice-cold whisky firing down my throat at the press of a button is plenty enough to prick my ears up and have me halfway out the door.
