Baked Cinnamon Apple Rings – The Perfect Fall Treat

We made the cutest fall treat the other day with the kids – it was these baked cinnamon apple rings. It was a fun family activity and they tasted so good! Here’s the recipe so you can try at home.

BAKED CINNAMON APPLE RINGS RECIPE

INGREDIENTS:

* Puff pastry

* 4 Apples (gala tastes the best! first time we did granny smith and it wasn’t as sweet – gala is sweeter 🙂 )

* 1/4 cup of Sugar

* 2 tsp ground cinnamon

* 1/8 tsp Ground nutmeg

* 1 egg beaten

DIRECTION

  1. Peel, slice apples into rounds, core center
  2. Unfold puff pastry, roll it out a little, cut into strips
  3. Mix the cinnamon, sugar, and nutmeg in a shallow dish and set aside.
  4. Pat the apple slices dry with a paper towel and dust w/cinnamon sugar.
  5. Wrap puff pastry strips around each apple ring.
  6. Brush the wrapped apple rings with egg wash.
  7. Dip or sprinkle rings into cinnamon sugar. (we drizzled maple syrup over to add some sweetness but don’t have to)

Bake at 400° for 20-25 minutes until puff pastry is flaky and light golden brown.
